sculptureThe sculpture is a tree made of scrap pipe and recyled bicycles standing seven
feet tall. It will has ten elegantly curving branches, bolted onto the trunk,
to allow for disassembly. The branches are heat-bent bike frame segments with
wheels of varied sizes mounted in the horizontal plane. Some of the wheels are
connected to their drive trains, others spin free. The trunk is mostly comprised
of one main five inch diameter pipe, with other pipes welded on to create spreading
roots and support structures for the branches. The roots and branches spread
from the trunk in flowing organic forms. |
